Heathrow Airport Guide - app of the week

Thanks to the launch of a new smartphone app, searching for the departures screen at the UK’s busiest airport is now a thing of the past.

Travellers can now access a wealth of airport information at their fingertips with the official BAA London Heathrow Airport guide, featuring terminal maps, shop and restaurant guides, and most importantly, live flight updates on demand.

With 13.6 million passengers expected to pass through the airport this summer, the app is a great way of avoiding the crowds around departure boards by getting the latest info straight to your phone.

The app’s impressive mini-live arrivals and departure screens also let you add flights to ‘My Trips’ and schedule notifications on changes to flight times in case there are any delays to your flight.

Shoppers and hungry travellers will love the interactive map of the airports facilities, which have detailed information on shops and restaurants in each terminal. The weather and city guides are also a great addition and a good way of whiling away time before you depart.

Heathrow’s app also features travel information to and from the airport, and information on internet access, car parking and other services and is also a useful tool for those who are picking someone up at the airport.

If you’re travelling through Heathrow anytime soon, this app will make the experience that little bit easier.

Heathrow Airport Guide is available free on iTunes, Android and BlackBerry smartphones.

You can also check out live Heathrow flight information on Skyscanner’s own arrivals & departures page.
