Heading to Baku for the football?

Thinking about travelling to Baku? We’ve gathered all the info for you (plus some extra deals). 👇🏼

Distance from London: 2,850 miles

Currency: Azerbaijan Manat. 1 Manat equals roughly £0.45 GBP

ATM & Credit Card Use: Credit Cards widely accepted and ATM’s widely available

Weather: Warm summer with daily average in May of 26 degrees Celsius

Time: Baku is 4 hours ahead of British Summer Time

Phone Service: Baku has good 4G phone coverage but likely falls outside the EU roaming zone. We advise you to check with your carrier.

Getting Around: Baku has regular busses and a metro which are inexpensive

Visa application

You will need a visa to travel to Azerbaijan. Apply on the Asan Visa website. The Foreign Office says: “If you’re applying for an e-visa to come to Azerbaijan for the Europa League final on 29 May 2019, please note in the “purpose of visit” of your e-visa application you should select ‘Europa League Final’.”

Flights to Baku

The only direct flights to Baku from London Heathrow are mostly sold out so you will have to connect. It is possible to connect through a number of airports including Istanbul, Kiev, Doha & Dubai.
