Glasgow is one of the world’s best cities to visit in 2009, according to Lonely Planet.
The Scottish holiday destination was the only UK city to make the list, alongside other European destinations, including Zurich, Warsaw and Lisbon.
Glasgow was added to the list, which appeared in the Lonely Planet Best In Travel 2009 publication, described as one of the world’s "worst kept" travel secrets.
Lonely Planet travel editor Tom Hall said: "The time has come for Lonely Planet to let one of its worst-kept secrets out: Glasgow’s got everything.
"We’re delighted to highlight such a fun, stylish city."
Destinations in the Americas, including Chicago and Mexico City, also made the list.
However, a number of other attractions outside of Glasgow still remain popular among tourists, according to VisitBritain.
The 2007 Visitor Attraction Survey picked out St Paul’s Cathedral in London and Pleasure Beach in Great Yarmouth among the most popular tourist spots.
