Gatwick Airport has the shortest queues at security of the ten busiest airports in Europe, according to the results of a new poll.
Passengers rated the London terminal best for security waiting times in the latest Airports Councils International (ACI) quarterly study.
Gatwick beat off competition from neighbour London Heathrow, as well as fellow UK airport Manchester International. The other eight competitors were Amsterdam Schipol, Paris Charles De Gaulle, Paris Orly, Copenhagen, Madrid, Rome, and Frankfurt.
Andy Flower, managing director of the airport, said: "It is a testament to the dedication and commitment of our staff at Gatwick that has resulted in this excellent feedback from passengers.
"This time last year Gatwick came 7th out of 10 for security queue times, so to be voted top today is a real achievement."
Meanwhile, KD Avia airline recently announced new flights to Russia from London Gatwick. The carrier will offer cheap flights to Yekaterinburg which will run in tandem with the airline’s existing services between Gatwick and Kallingrad.
