Cheap flights carrier flydubai will launch new flights to Damascus and Alexandria on June 8th and June 9th respectively.
The new routes are expected to prove popular both as city break destinations and among the United Arab Emirates’ expatriate population.
Ghaith Al Ghaith, flydubai’s chief executive officer, said a number of further new routes would "be launched in quick succession", with several announcements having been planned for the coming weeks.
"The response when we launched our first routes to Amman and Beirut was phenomenal," he commented.
"We were inundated with calls from travellers checking flight availability as soon as the website went live."
Mr Al Ghaith added that the airline’s aim is to establish a presence in the Middle East’s budget travel sector, which can only be achieved by adding further flight destinations.
The airline, which began operations yesterday (June 1st), is based at Dubai International Airport’s Terminal 2.
Flydubai recently revealed the first of its 50 Boeing 737-800 aircraft ahead of its inaugural flight.
