Regional airline Flybe will introduce six weekly flights to Bournemouth from Manchester this summer.
The route, which is targeted at north-west leisure passengers heading to Dorset, will commence on May 27th.
Mike Rutter, chief commercial officer at Flybe, said the carrier is "delighted" to be launching flights to Bournemouth, which will form part of its regional network.
"Our new Bournemouth route will be especially convenient to those living and working in the more westerly counties of the south coast, so extending further our extensive regional presence," he commented.
Mr Rutter went on to say that he expected the route to be popular among those heading for a weekend away and families having an extended break on the English Riviera.
It is hoped that Bournemouth residents will be tempted by the return journey, with Manchester emerging as one of the most cosmopolitan cities in Europe.
Elsewhere, Flybe will launch flights to Avignon, Bordeaux, Limoges and Rennes from Birmingham on March 28th.
