British Midland International (bmi) will launch new flights to Tripoli from London Heathrow this winter.
Daily services to Libya’s capital and largest city will commence on December 1st using an Airbus A319 aircraft, with tickets having gone on sale today (September 27th).
Flights will take off from Heathrow at 08:55 (GMT) and arrive in Tripoli at 14:30 (local time). Return services will depart Libya at 15:15 before touching down in the UK at 16:45.
Wolfgang Prock-Schauer, bmi’s chief executive, said that the airline’s flights to Tripoli will allow the carrier to expand its influence in Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
"Our business customers in particular will find the new, daily service gives them even more choice between the UK and Libya and offers convenient domestic and long haul connections via our Heathrow hub," he commented.
Services to Tripoli are also expected to be popular among leisure passengers, with the Libyan capital known for its numerous Roman ruins and nearby beaches.
In July, bmi launched a new website for its Russian customers, allowing Russian speakers to book services in their chosen language.
