Snowjet will launch flights to Sion Airport from London Stansted during the forthcoming winter ski season.
The service will be the only scheduled flight to the Alpine resort from the UK and is expected to prove popular with skiers heading to Zermatt, Verbier and Saas Fee.
Snowjet managing director David Lacy said that the route would appeal to those looking for a fast, direct journey to the Alps.
"Verbier, for example, is just 35 to 40 minutes away from Sion, compared with two and a half hours from Geneva," he explained.
"In addition, Sion handles a low volume of passengers, which means skiers won’t have a long wait at baggage reclaim or at check-in, enabling them to spend longer on the slopes."
Flights will operate on a twice-weekly Saturday and Sunday basis between December 19th and April 18th, departing from Stansted at 10:00 (GMT) and touching down at Sion at 13:00 (local time).
Passengers who book tickets for the flight before August 31st will be able to take their skis for free.
