US Airways will launch new flights to Rome from its North Carolina hub in time for next summer’s holiday season.
The carrier will begin servicing the Italian capital from Charlotte on May 13th, which will complement its existing route to Rome from Philadelphia.
Flights to Rome will operate on a daily, year-round basis using an Airbus A330-300 aircraft, with departure times scheduled for 18:15 (local time) before arrival in Italy at 09:30 (local time) the following morning.
Suzanne Boda, US Airways’ senior vice president of airport customer service, said that Rome is one of the carrier’s "most popular European destinations".
"Our new service from Charlotte will offer our customers throughout the south-eastern United States another convenient option for travelling to the eternal city," she commented.
US Airways currently offers flights to London Gatwick, Frankfurt and Paris Charles de Gaulle from Charlotte, while later this month it was launch flights to Rio de Janeiro, its first South American destination from North Carolina.
The carrier is due to enter a code-share agreement with TACA Airlines in the new year, which will benefit passengers on flights to Rio, Mexico, Costa Rica and Belize.
