Singapore Airlines will introduce five-times-weekly flights to Munich from Singapore next spring.
The services, which will travel onwards to Manchester, will depart on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Fridays and Sundays using a Boeing 777-300ER aircraft.
Germany’s third-largest city will become Singapore Airlines’ second destination in the country after Frankfurt, which is served by two daily flights.
Huang Cheng Eng, executive vice president of marketing at the carrier, explained that Munich "has something for everyone", whether you are a business or leisure traveller.
"With the launch of these flights, Singapore Airlines will be able to meet demand for this exciting destination, which also provides a gateway into Austria and the surrounding region," he said.
Munich is perhaps most famous for hosting the world’s largest folk festival, Oktoberfest, which celebrates Bavarian culture over a 16-day period. In 2010, the festival will be celebrating its 200th anniversary.
From October next year, Singapore Airlines will begin twice daily flights to Tokyo’s Haneda Airport from the island city state.
