Continental Airlines will launch new flights to Munich from New York’s Newark Liberty International Airport next spring.
From March 27th, flights to Munich will depart from the Big Apple at 17:25 (local time) and arrive in the German city at 07:50 (local time) the following morning. Return flights will take off at 09:20 before touching town in New York at 12:35 the same day.
Jim Compton, Continental’s executive vice president of marketing, said that Munich is the largest city in Germany not currently served by the carrier.
"As well as extending Continental service to a new market in Germany, this hub-to-hub link will provide additional travel options and opportunities for our customers on both sides of the Atlantic," he explained.
The route will be operated using a Boeing 767-200ER aircraft, which can accommodate 149 economy class passengers and 25 business class passengers.
Munich is capital of the Bavaria region and is Germany’s third-largest city behind Berlin and Hamburg.
Earlier this month, the carrier introduced flights to Frankfurt, Washington and Edmonton from George Bush Intercontinental Airport in Houston.
