Etihad Airways will increase its number of flights to Frankfurt from Abu Dhabi from ten to 13 a week next month.
The change will take effect on December 12th, with the airline expected to increase the frequency further from March 28th by offering double daily services.
Etihad says that the route, which was launched in summer 2005, is one of its most popular flights to Europe, with a number of Abu Dhabi-bound passengers connecting with onward flights to Bangkok, Sydney and Kuala Lumpur.
James Hogan, Etihad Airways’ chief executive, said the secret of the success of the route is because of the strong demand from both business and leisure passengers.
"Abu Dhabi’s geographical location makes it ideal as a gateway for air travellers from Germany to connect to Australia, the far east and throughout the Middle East easily and quickly," he commented.
Passengers heading to Germany will now be able to choose from either a morning or evening departure.
The United Arab Emirates’ national carrier is planning to launch new flights to Nagoya and Tokyo during the first quarter of next year.
