CityJet will commence cheap flights to Florence from London City Airport in January.
The service, which will operate six times per week, will be introduced on Monday, January 10th, although a limited service will operate during the Christmas period.
Florence Airport is similar to London City in that it is small, compact and easy for passengers to use. It is a four mile drive from the Tuscan capital’s city centre.
Christine Ourmières, CityJet’s chief executive officer, said that Florence is a "great addition" to the carrier’s expanding European network.
"Now with our convenient Florence schedule and 15-minute check-in, CityJet customers can travel hassle-free from the heart of London to the heart of Tuscany, spending less time at airports and more time enjoying their trip," she commented.
Florence has long been popular with holidaymakers and city breakers and is home to numerous museums, palaces and churches.
CityJet is currently operating an increased number flights to Brive in France’s Dordogne region from the Docklands airport, a service that will continue until the end of October.
