British Airways (BA) will commence two direct weekly flights to Cancun from London Gatwick this winter.
The airline will introduce services to Mexico’s leading tourist destination from the UK’s second-busiest airport on November 3rd, with the first departure taking off at 12:45 GMT and landing in Cancun at 17:45 (local time).
Flights will be operated using a Boeing 777 aircraft, which offers passengers the choice of three different cabins.
Richard Tams, BA’s head of UK & Ireland sales and marketing, said the carrier is "delighted" to be the only scheduled airline in the UK offering direct flights to Cancun.
"It is the perfect addition to our Gatwick long haul premium leisure network," he commented.
"As well as offering upmarket internationally recognised luxury hotels, unspoilt beaches and award winning golf courses and spas, it is also the gateway to the Yucatan Peninsula with its Mayan ruins and ancient history."
Earlier this month, the airline, in partnership with CitationAir, commenced a new private jet service for passengers flying within the North America and Caribbean region.
