Qatar Airways has introduced flights to Bengaluru, formerly known as Bangalore, from its Doha hub.
Flight QR226 touched down in India’s IT city during the early hours of yesterday (February 23rd) morning following the non-stop overnight journey from Qatar.
Akbar Al Baker, chief executive officer of Qatar Airways, said it wouldn’t be long before Bengaluru became one of its "most strategic markets", with the city home to India’s largest collection of technology companies.
"I am delighted that Bengaluru has finally joined our rapidly growing international network, which further demonstrates our commitment to giving the travelling public greater choice," he commented.
Mr Al Baker went on to say that flights to Bengaluru will help foster India’s relationship with Qatar, with the airline also offering flights to Mumbai, Delhu and Chennai among others from Doha.
Bengaluru also boasts some of India’s finest colleges and research institutions and is a hub for the aerospace, telecommunications and defence industries.
Elsewhere, Qatar Airways will launch four weekly flights to Copenhagen from Doha on March 30th.
