Emirates Airlines has launched its first A380 flight to Seoul after the plane touched down in the South Korean capital yesterday (December 14th).
Passengers from 27 countries were onboard the maiden journey, which will operate from Dubai to Seoul’s Incheon International Airport on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.
From December 27th, the route will operate on a daily basis.
Tim Clark, Emirates’ president, was onboard the first A380 flight to north-east Asia, and said he was "delighted" that it had been introduced.
"Our partners at Incheon International Airport have invested heavily to make the airport a world-class A380 facility and for this we thank them," he commented.
Mr Clark went on to say that approximately 70,000 business and leisure passengers use the airline’s flights to Korea every year, although this could well increase now that the double-decker A380 has entered service.
Elsewhere in Asia, Emirates is planning to launch new flights to Tokyo from Dubai on March 28th.
The Japanese capital will become the carrier’s 102nd international destination.
