Online travel company Expedia has offered its partners a technological advance that could boost the organisational capacity of hoteliers.
Launching its Rate and Inventory Channel Management Certification Program, Expedia promised that the new product would facilitate better management of hotel rates and inventory across the firm’s global network of travel brands. It was claimed that by awarding certification, Expedia would be able to ensure that the channel management and rate allocation tools employed by users of the programme are compatible with Expedia’s own mix of inventory and pricing models.
Dean Gregory, senior director of hotel systems connectivity at the firm, said: "Expedia approaches connectivity solutions for small and large hotels, chains and independent properties in a scalable manner. The certification program makes it easy for independent properties and small-to-medium sized hotel chains to achieve maximum efficiency in managing their rates and inventory with Expedia, which, for many hotels, serves as the single largest channel for bookings."
The new programme builds on last June’s Expedia QuickConnect, which used a direct connection to the online agent to enable the exchange of rates, booking and availability information.
