Emirates has just become the first airline to launch flights to America using an Airbus A380.
The international carrier flew its inaugural flight to New York from Dubai on Friday.
Emirates’ super-jumbo was fully-booked for its first flight, with 339 passengers in economy, 76 using the fully-flat business class seats and 14 in the exclusive Private Suites of first class.
The plane features a host of new on-board features including shower spas and a lounge.
Emirates will take delivery of five more super-jumbos before the end of the year and plans to introduce the aircraft on routes to New York, as well as flights to London Heathrow, Sydney and Auckland.
Meanwhile, the airline introduced an in-flight mobile phone service last week. The system will allow passengers onboard 777-300 aircraft to make calls and send text messages during flights to Europe and Australia.
Patrick Brannelly, vice president of passenger communications and visual services, said: "The technology is another example of our dedication to always being the first airline to offer passengers groundbreaking technology and services."
