Emirates launched its first Airbus A380 flight to Bangkok today (June 1st), while a new route to Toronto was also introduced.
The airline will operate daily flights to the Thai capital from Dubai International Airport, with the maiden flight landing at Suvarnabhumi International Airport at 19:00 hours (local time).
Currently the world’s only twin-deck aircraft, the A380 has 35 percent more seats than its closest rival, while it offers better fuel economy than the majority of hybrid passenger cars.
Emirates Airline president Tim Clark said he was "delighted" to launch the inaugural flights to Thailand and Canada.
"In Thailand, the introduction of the super jumbo will support the local government’s multi-million dollar promotional drive to boost tourism arrivals from the high-yield Middle East region," he explained.
As well as being environmentally-friendly, the A380 is quieter than most other aircraft – generating less than half the noise of a standard airliner.
The airline recently announced its intention to introduce 22 additional flights to India from its base in Dubai.
