El Prat’s new Terminal 1 ready to welcome airlines

This will apply to Iberia and its affiliate Regional Air Nostrum, British Airways, American Airlines, Finnair and Royal Jordanian.

Airlines belonging to the oneworld network serving Barcelona’s El Prat Airport will move to the new Terminal 1 building on September 9th.

This will apply to Iberia and its affiliate Regional Air Nostrum, British Airways, American Airlines, Finnair and Royal Jordanian.

Cheap flights carrier Vueling is also moving to the new terminal, despite not being a oneworld member.

The airlines will have adjoining check-in desks at the new building, which features 101 boarding gates, 43 air bridges and over 100 shops, bars and restaurants.

Robert Antoniuk, oneworld’s vice-president of customer experience and airports, said the network’s intention was to bring member airlines together.

"The opening of this magnificent new facility at Iberia group’s second home Barcelona provides just the ideal chance to do just that," he commented.

Terminal 1 is capable of accommodating approximately 30 million passengers a year, which will nearly double the airport’s capacity.

Barcelona El Prat, which is located 10km south-west of the city, is the second-largest airport in Spain after Madrid Barajas.
