More Brits are expected to book cheap flights to Marrakech to take advantage of its shopping after it was used as a location for the Sex and the City Two movie.

This is the suggestion of Berlitz Publishing, which said that the Moroccan destination’s reputation as "one of the world’s hippest cities" can only be enhanced with the arrival of the film’s star, Carrie Bradshaw.

Katharine Leck, Berlitz Publishing’s managing director, said that shopaholics are "well catered for" in Marrakech.

[There is a] maze of souks offering everything from rugs, furniture, jewellery, antiques, art, books and mementoes to take home," she explained.

"Away from the hustle and bustle visitors can enjoy a relaxing Hamman, take a day trip to the old fishing port of Essaouria, or enjoy walking in the Ourika Valley in the foothills of the High Atlas."

Some 7.4 million tourists visited Morocco in 2007, the largest annual figure in four decades and a 13 percent increase on 2006’s total.
