Czech Airlines' flights to New York to be taken over by Delta

Delta Air Lines will begin operating Czech Airlines’ flights to New York from Prague during the 2009-10 winter schedule.

Thanks to the SkyTeam Alliance, Delta will operate flights to the Big Apple every day apart from Thursdays and Saturdays at 09:30 (local time) between October 25th and March 28th.

Return flights to the Czech capital will take off everyday with the exception of Wednesdays and Fridays at 17:05 (local time).

Czech Airlines will stop using its own aircraft on the route at the end of the current summer season, which draws to a close on October 24th.

In addition, the carrier will suspend flights to Toronto from Prague on October 13th, marking the end of this seasonal route for 2009.

Commenting on the changes, Petr Pistelak, Czech Airlines’ vice president for marketing and product development, said: "We will have more strength for medium- and short-haul routes in Europe, primarily in its eastern part, on which we can better concentrate."

The carrier is in the process of revising its flight schedule as part of its 2009 Action Plan.
