Clickair goes Galician from Gatwick

Clickair has announced a new London Gatwick to Vigo route.

Spanish budget airline Clickair has announced a new London Gatwick to Vigo route that will grant the Galician town with its first low cost link to the UK.

Beginning on June 21st and operating three times per week, the new route will grant British travellers access not only to the Pontevedra province around Vigo, but also to northern Portugal, only a stone’s throw away.

Around 60,000 travellers are forecast to make use of the route in its first year, with Ruben Lopez, managing director of local authority the Foundation Provigo, stating: "This important new link will greatly improve the competitiveness of our businesses and the quality of life of our citizens."

While the Vigo-Gatwick route represents Clickair’s third London service, the airline is looking elsewhere and has this week announced the introduction in September of twice weekly flights from east Spanish port city Valencia to Dubrovnik in Croatia.

Alongside its expanding flight routes, the airline has also revamped its booking systems with the recent addition of an online multi-reservation initiative that takes Clickair beyond the usual point-to-point booking constraints of low cost carriers.

The service allows passengers within Clickair’s flight network to combine bookings, transferring between flights at the carrier’s Barcelona, Seville, Valencia and Bilbao hubs.
