TAP will introduce cheap flights to Algiers from Lisbon this summer, the airline has confirmed.
Services will operate three times a week on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays using a 45-seater Embraer aircraft.
The route will become TAP’s eleventh on the African continent, where it serves nine different countries.
TAP has continually expanded its presence in Africa since 2001, when it carried 236,000 passengers on cheap flights to the continent.
Since then, that figure has grown to 541,000, with an encouraging year-on-year rise of 6.4 percent recorded last year.
Flights to Algiers will depart at 15:45 (local time) and land in the Algerian capital at 18:05 (local time).
Return services take off from Algiers at 18:50 before touching back down in the Portuguese capital at 21:00.
In October last year, TAP carried 61,000 passengers on its cheap flights to Italy, a rise from the 59,000 recorded during the same month in 2008.
