Certificate allows Fly Montserrat to begin operations

Fly Montserrat has secured its Air Operations Certificate, which will allow the airline to become fully operational.

Fly Montserrat has secured its Air Operations Certificate, which will allow the airline to become fully operational.

The certificate, which was obtained from UK overseas Civil Aviation Authority Air Safety Support International, allows the airline to begin charter flights for passengers travelling from Montserrat to neighbouring Caribbean islands such as Antigua.

With the certificate having been granted on May 28th, Fly Montserrat was able to launch its first charter flight on Saturday (May 30th).

The news is likely to benefit UK holidaymakers in the Caribbean, with charter services also including the islands of St Lucia and St Kitts.

Previously, the only other way of travelling Antigua from Montserrat was with Winair, with the new flights increasing capacity on a much sought-after route.

Passengers can book flights to 14 Caribbean islands with Fly Montserrat, including popular holiday destinations Dominica, Martinique and St Vincent.

As well as offering charter flights to and from other Caribbean islands, Fly Montserrat will operate day trips to the island in addition to urgent cargo flights.
