Jetting off to destinations such as Spain or Italy on 25th December will cost up to 38% and 24% more respectively than on New Year’s Eve – which is the cheapest day of the festive period to fly on for six out of the ten top destinations that we analysed.
However, one destination bucks this trend. For those heading across the pond to the USA on Santa’s big day, you’ll find flights at their cheapest compared with other dates during the Christmas period, based on prices between 20th-31st December.
Check out how flight costs to other popular destinations from the UK compare over Christmas:

Skyscanner’s Travel Editor, Cat McGloin says: “It’s a long held belief that you’ll be guaranteed to bag a bargain by flying on Christmas Day but as our data clearly shows, that is not always the case. The best way to find the cheapest deal is to be flexible on your travel dates, using our browse by month tool shows the cheapest flights available and setting up price alerts so you’ll get alerted as soon as the price drops (or rises) will also save some of that all-important Christmas cash.”
