Brazil experiences increased levels of ‘residential tourism’

More people could book flights to Brazil thanks to a government initiative to attract more tourists to the country

More people could book flights to Brazil thanks to a government initiative to attract more tourists to the country, BuyAssociation.co.uk has said.

According to Paul Collins, the website’s property editor, the government is doing "whatever it can" to attract more people to Brazil, whether they’re holidaymakers, investors or retirees.

Referring to a recent travel trend, Mr Collins said: "Obviously tourism is the main thrust of [visitors], but nowadays that goes hand in hand with what is called ‘residential tourism’, where people buy property and that attracts tourists there as well."

According to BuyAssociation.co.uk, British people are attracted to Brazil because of the diversity of its landscape, its rich culture and warm climate.

It is predicted that more people from the UK will move to the South American country, with the cost of living approximately 20 percent cheaper than it is in the UK.

According to the International Monetary Fund’s World Economic Outlook, economic growth in Latin America during 2009 will amount to 3.6 percent.
