Brits considering city breaks in Berlin can look forward to spending a lot less money than if they had chosen to visit London or Paris.
This is according to the German National Tourist Office, which said that not only is the country’s capital comparatively inexpensive, it is also one of Europe’s most sought after cities.
Klaus Lohmann, the organisation’s UK & Ireland director, said that Berlin is "the place to be and definitely one of the hippest places in Europe", while its atmosphere is "buzzing with energy".
"There are so many designer boutiques, galleries, world class restaurants and countless clubs" he commented.
"There are a lot of direct flights with various airlines between the UK and Germany that don’t cost a fortune."
According to hotel price comparison site trivago, hotel prices in Berlin fell one percent in July to an average of £73 per night. The figures for London and Paris, by comparison, were £137 and £107 respectively.
