British Airways (BA) passengers with Android-operated smartphones will be able to take advantage of the carrier’s mobile boarding pass service from next month.
BA’s service will also be made available to customers travelling with a Blackberry in a development that was first launched on the iPhone in July.
Since then, more than 30,000 passengers have used the service, with Chris Davies, BA’s head of digital marketing, referring to it as "incredibly convenient".
"Extending our successful mobile boarding passes to Blackberry and Android users underlines our commitment to strengthen our mobile offering and enhance the overall travelling experience," he commented.
"It gives our customers increased control and makes travelling on British Airways even easier and smoother, allowing them to stay one step ahead."
The mobile boarding pass can be used by passengers travelling on any domestic BA flight and to many of the carrier’s routes to Europe.
BA announced last month that it will launch new flights to Haneda, Tokyo from London Heathrow on February 19th.
