AmEx plans travel tech platform

A new agreement has been signed to enable the development of a new travel technology platform.

A new agreement has been signed to enable the development of a new travel technology platform. American Express Consumer Travel Network has signed a deal with Revelex Corporation to develop the platform for its network of travel agents, allowing them to achieve faster bookings and greater service integration across call centers, travel service offices and home-working agents.

Florida-based travel technology specialist Revelex will look to provide AmEx with an integrated consumer travel desktop, allowing agents to handle flight bookings, as well as car, hotel and cruise travel reservations in one application.

David Goodis, chief executive of Revelex, said: "We are thrilled to deliver such an exciting new platform to the world’s pre-eminent provider of travel products and services. This agreement will enable Revelex to combine all the functionality American Express travel agents require into one, cohesive tool."

The platform will be piloted in mid-2008, with plans for a full-scale roll-out scheduled for 2009.
