Amadeus-JTA deal ‘born of flexibility’

A recent agreement with discounted flight specialist has confirmed the ascendancy of global distribution system provider Amadeus.

A recent agreement with discounted flight specialist JTA has confirmed the ascendancy of global distribution system (GDS) provider Amadeus and its its application programming interface (API) solutions, GDS specialist claimed.

In addition to API uptake, the firm claimed that off-the-shelf solutions such as Amadeus Cruise and Amadeus Selling Platform (ASP), used for air, car, hotel and rail bookings, were also gaining exposure, with clients said to be happy to obtain both solutions like the ASP for call centre staff and tailored developments like the API from the same supplier.

JTA’s agreement with the company adds to other recent subscribers to Amadeus travel technology solutions such as dial-a-flight brand operator Lotus Group, as well as Scottish travel agent Barrhead Travel, highlighting the versatility of the firm’s products.

Julian Mills, director of sales at Amadeus UK & Ireland said: "Because we don’t believe in a ‘one size fits all’ approach, Amadeus invests in delivering award-winning applications including the tools that enable travel agencies and third party developers to customise technology to suit their unique and evolving business environments. This flexibility proved a key factor in JTA’s decision to move to Amadeus. We take pride in understanding our customers’ technology needs so that we continue to deliver the right mix of Amadeus off-the-shelf solutions and development tools."

Wayne Darrock, managing director of JTA, added that working with Amadeus had allowed faster automated booking processes through streamlined electronic distribution channels, helping the company to grow and expand.
