US cheap flights carrier AirTran Airways will launch new flights to Fort Lauderdale from Flint’s Bishop International Airport this winter.
The non-stop service will come into effect on November 4th, the same date the airline reinstates flights to Fort Myers.
On October 6th, the carrier will reintroduce daily flights to Tampa, another popular Florida destination, from Michigan’s third-busiest airport.
Commenting on the introduction of the routes, AirTran Airways vice president of marketing and sales Tad Hutcheson said: "With non-stop services to more Florida cities than anyone from Flint, the only thing that covers the state better than AirTran Airways is the sunshine itself."
Bishop International Airport director Jim Rice said that flights to Fort Lauderdale were "testament" to the airline’s commitment to the economic growth of the Flint region.
Earlier this month, the airline said it would launch new flights from Milwaukee and Baltimore-Washington on October 6th.
The Airline Quality Rating has ranked AirTran Airways the number one cheap flights carrier in the US for the past two years.
