New airline routes and destinations launched this month
New routes offered by airlines are a great source of travel inspiration, and Stockholm, Seattle and San Francisco will all become more accessible this month.
London Luton to the Isle of Man with easyJet
Starting March 27th, from £25.24* one way
For short haul, weekend breaks in the UK, nothing beats the beautiful Isle of Man: a place which is also home to some of the cheapest hotels in England (the capital, Douglas, has the biggest selection). It's an island with a fiercely independent streak (it's got the world's oldest continuous parliament, the Tynwald), filled with friendly locals, quaint towns and undulating valleys. Visit during June and July to watch the famous TT motorbike race, but for some peace and quiet, head for the coast. The Isle of Man's best beaches include Laxey Beach, to the north of Douglas, and the more remote Port Erin beach, in the south of the island.
Starting March 26th, from £25.24 one way
If you're looking for cheap flights to Stockholm, you're in luck, thanks to Easyjet's new Luton to Stockholm flights. And there's a lot to get excited about in Stockholm this year, including new art installations on the metro and a fabulous new hotel in the up-and-coming neighbourhood of Brunkebergstorg. Hotel At Six has an achingly-cool Listening Lounge, filled with hi-tech DJ equipment and a fantastic sound system. Come here for the live music, talks by top musicians and some seriously tasty cocktails. We also recommend signing up for one of Stockholm's Art Walks and checking out Djurgården (Museum Island), home to Stockholm's best museums. The Vasa Museum is our favourite - it's got the world's only fully intact seventeenth-century ship.
London Heathrow to Seattle, US with Virgin Atlantic
Starting March 26th, from £742 return
It's hard not to be wowed by the skyline of Seattle, but to make the most of this city, get off the beaten track and and explore places like the foodie neighbourhood of Ballard, or culturally-diverse Columbia City. The city has some fantastic places to stay, but if you're on a budget, the cheapest hotels in Seattle include City Hostel Seattle, near the iconic Space Needle (with its brilliant new digital experience) and Hotel Hotel in lively Fremont, which has private rooms and shared dormitories, as well as a fantastic terrace for when the sun shines.
Manchester to San Francisco, US with Virgin Atlantic
Starting March 28th, from £722 return
Head to San Francisco - aka Golden Gate City - this year to celebrate the Summer of Love's 50th anniversary and Pier 39's 39th anniversary. Check in to the Hyatt Centric Fisherman's Wharf if you're celebrating the latter, or make your base one of the city's boutique hotels. We love the cosy-but-cool Hotel Zeppelin, a stone's throw from Union Square, and the hi-tech Hotel Zetta, who will be unveiling their lobby-based virtual reality room this spring. San Francisco's most famous landmarks include the Golden Gate Bridge (pictured), Alcatraz and Fisherman's Wharf, but don't forget to check out the lesser-known neighbourhoods, like lively Japantown (the biggest Japantown in America) and Lower Haight, which has a wonderful mix of alternative clubs, chic coffee shops and stylish boutiques.
Manchester to Boston, US with Virgin Atlantic
Starting March 28th, from £479 return
Boston is one of America's most beautiful cities, and it's got some of North America's best museums, including the Boston Tea Party Ships and Museum - a hi-tech, interactive experience perfect for visitors of all ages. Kids can even throw their own crate of tea into the Charles River. Check into the Hyatt Regency Boston for easy access to the historic Freedom Trail, or catch a baseball game at Fenway Park, the Red Sox's home stadium. Boston's best shopping areas include the enormous Copley Plaza and the sprawling Wrentham Village Premium Outlets, where you'll find 170 stores offering enormous discounts.
