Italian cheap flights airline Air One has started flights to Boston from Milan Malpensa Airport.

The low-cost carrier announced in May that it would launch its first intercontinental flights to Boston and Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport this summer.

Flights to Chicago began on Thursday (June 26th) with Air One landing at Boston Logan Airport on Friday (June 27th).

The carrier was welcomed to Boston by the Massachusetts Port Authority (Massport) which said Air One will be able to reach several destinations in the US from the New England terminal.

Edward C Freni, director of aviation at Massport, commented: "I’m happy to welcome Air One to Boston Logan and pleased that they have designated Boston as a gateway airport for their service."

When Air One first announced its US services, the airline revealed that it would use the two routes into America to provide flights to other cities via codeshare agreements.

Giorgio De Roni, head of marketing at Air One said flights to Miami, Washington and California will be possible avenues for expansion in the US.
