The inaugural flight was operated using a Boeing 737-700, with passengers and crew greeted by columns of water at Oslo-Gardermoen Airport.
Commenting on the launch of the route, Thorsten Scherzer, Air Berlin’s head of sales, said: "Although our service between Berlin-Tegel and Oslo-Gardermoen is our first venture into the Norwegian market, we are delighted with the encouraging demand for the new route.
"That is why we have now added a Sunday flight to the daily flights from Monday to Friday."
Air Berlin is currently the only airline to offer non-stop flights to Oslo-Gardermoen from Berlin-Tegel.
Germany’s second-largest airline recently won a European Business Award in the customer focus category.
In doing so, Air Berlin fought off competition from Dell and Deutsche Telekom Kundenservice GmbH.
The European Business Awards, which have been issued every year since 2006, are a recognition of successful and innovative companies within the European Union.
