Additional flights to be launched by Austrian Airlines this summer

Austrian Airlines hopes to attract around one million passengers a year with the launch of its 2010 summer schedule.

Additional cheap flights to London from Vienna will be launched in an agreement with bmi, with the current 28 weekly services being extended to 35.

The carrier is planning to increase flights to Brussels from the Austrian capital. Currently operating 32 weekly flights, Austrian Airlines will soon manage 46 flights a week to the Belgian capital.

Elsewhere, the airline will also launch additional flights to Zurich and Prague from Vienna. This means that, during the summer, Austrian Airlines will operate a total of 1,513 flights a week, an increase from last year’s figure of 1,499.

Andreas Bierworth and Peter Malanik, both members of Austrian Airline’s executive board, said the carrier is committed to improving its services "where it is relevant to the clients".

"It is all about providing clients with concrete arguments as to why they should be flying with Austrian," they commented.

Last month, the carrier announced the launch of a codeshare agreement with Star Alliance partner Brussels Airlines.
