Vueling Airlines, S.A. is a low-cost airline based in Barcelona, Spain. Established in 2004, it is currently Spain’s second-largest airline. The name Vueling comes from the Spanish word ‘Vuelo’, which means flight. The airline’s main airport hubs are Barcelona–El Prat Airport and Leonardo da Vinci–Fiumicino Airport in Rome. Vueling serves over 100 destinations across several continents, including Europe, Africa, and Asia. Vueling flies to and from several UK airports including London Heathrow, Manchester, Birmingham, Cardiff, Edinburgh, and Leeds. Popular destinations include Barcelona, Alicante, Bilbao, and Paris. How to check in
With Vueling, you can check in using your mobile phone or computer. You will need to be able to show your ticket in the airport, and this can either be printed off or downloaded to the Vueling smartphone app. If you’ve already selected your seat, you can check-in as soon as you receive your ticket purchase confirmation e-mail and up until 4 hours before departure. (Note: For some routes, such as those departing from London, Cardiff, Lyon, and Frankfurt, you can check-in up to 24 hours before departure). If you did not reserve a seat when you booked your ticket, you can check in online from 7 hours and up until 4 hours before departure.
The main aircraft Vueling uses is the Airbus A320. This aircraft has a seat pitch (the distance between your seat and the seat in front of you) of 29 inches and a width of 17.7 inches. This is slightly smaller than Ryanair’s main plane, the Boeing 737-800, which has a seat pitch of 30 inches. Vueling offers several seating options, one of which includes extra legroom. If you want to snag one of these seats, upgrade as soon as possible: there are a limited number of extra legroom seats on each flight.
Vueling typically charges a 2% booking fee for most payments including those done through Paypal and a credit card from outside Spain. There is no surcharge if using a debit card issued outside of Spain.
Service on board
Meals are included if you purchase Vueling’s Excellence Fare. Typical food includes snacks such as hot drinks and chocolate bars, a cone of jamón Ibérico ham, and sandwiches. Basic Fare and Optima ticket holders can purchase snacks onboard.
While delays do happen, most Vueling flights arrive within 15 minutes or under of their scheduled arrival time.
