Travel. It's one of life's simple pleasures. But, ooof, planning it can feel like hard work. For the last 18 years we've been on a mission to empower every traveller with innovative tools, insights and experiences that help people get to where they're going, so they can spend more time out exploring the world, and less time anxiously bouncing around 25 browser tabs and endless spreadsheets. Our traveller-first approach drives everything we do and it's never been more important than it is today.
When we launched as a flight comparison site back in 2003, we changed the game by helping travellers feel smart, like they were in on a secret, that promise hasn't changed. And today, while we're a world leader in travel, with millions of people using our products every single day we know there's so much more we can be doing.
Being part of Skyscanner means joining a team hell bent on building the world's most innovative, and helpful travel experiences possible. We're hugely ambitious and believe we have the chance to genuinely challenge and disrupt the industry.
Focused. Supportive. Honest.
Python, Java, Kafka and AWS – you’ll be up to speed with at least two of them, and keen to build your knowledge on them all! In Data tribe, we deliver high-quality data and insights on which we can more effectively build and run our services. In these teams, you will have the opportunity to join different data projects and, alongside other Engineers in your team, you will be designing high quality, performant, and resilient platforms. Our Data tribe has built a data lake using Databricks (Apache Spark) and use Airflow/Alchemy to feed the lake. As a skilled Software Engineer your sound tech experience of Agile/Lean methodologies will be vital for continuous improvement. And though the customer rules your world, your team’s important too. You always help colleagues perform at their best and turn big solutions into smaller, bite-sized tasks.
Most roles at Skyscanner can be either Full Time or Part Time. We need your expertise to help us do something great for our travellers: make booking stays and journeys more sustainable and straightforward. It involves technical challenges and the latest technology, from machine learning and cloud services to world-class APIs.
As a Software Engineer, you’ll help us develop a whole range of key product features in your area. It involves defining and implementing services that make up a vital sub-system. As you work, you’ll collaborate across other product engineering development lifecycles, learning and influencing. Alongside being accountable for your own projects, you'll form part of a broader team that takes collective responsibility for making success happen.
Already a global leader in travel, we want to elevate the way we work to a whole other level. In return, you’ll get meaningful things like medical insurance, headspace subscriptions, a home office allowance and the option to buy more holiday. You’ll have the opportunity to work from any country for 4 weeks a year, and 30 days in our other global offices. Everything, in other words, to help you relax and give your best.
