Travel. It's one of life's simple pleasures. But, ooof, planning it can feel like hard work. For the last 18 years we've been on a mission to empower every traveller with innovative tools, insights and experiences that help people get to where they're going, so they can spend more time out exploring the world, and less time anxiously bouncing around 25 browser tabs and endless spreadsheets. Our traveller-first approach drives everything we do and it's never been more important than it is today.
When we launched as a flight comparison site back in 2003, we changed the game by helping travellers feel smart, like they were in on a secret, that promise hasn't changed. And today, while we're a world leader in travel, with millions of people using our products every single day we know there's so much more we can be doing.
Being part of Skyscanner means joining a team hell bent on building the world's most innovative, and helpful travel experiences possible. We're hugely ambitious and believe we have the chance to genuinely challenge and disrupt the industry.
Proactive. Passionate. Proficient.
Working at Skyscanner just feels… different. It’s the way we love to collaborate, yet take personal ownership of our work. We’re passionate about improving the world of travel and working here isn’t quite like anywhere else.
System administration and application support across a number of business functions. Problem solving and diagnosis. Automation and scripting. Excellent customer service: You'll need to have done them all to join us. We need someone who can help build and maintain our digital workplace by drawing on your skills and experience. You should be capable of designing and operating systems and services, including open-source, internally built and commercial third-party solutions. A passion for learning new technologies, solving ambiguous problems and identifying new, inventive solutions to engineering problems will take you far in this role.
As a Senior Systems Engineer, you'll be experienced in all things Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) and be proficient in automation scripting using either Powershell or Python. You'll come from a traditional on-prem infrastructure background and have experience with cloud based technologies such as AWS and Azure along with Terraform and CloudFormation. Proven understanding of handling Cloud based services such as Microsoft Azure Active Directory, Exchange Online and M365 services are key to this role.
A key part of this role will involve delivering projects from conception to completion and supporting them in production. You will help your colleagues to achieve their goals, by enabling them to independently solve problems while coaching & mentoring them. You'll join the team in the administration and improvement of several core business applications, to build and deploy new solutions and tools and provide support to our global user base.
Of course, you'll also be looking for opportunities to automate repetitive tasks and improve our services. Though you'll be accountable for your projects and trusted to deliver, you'll also form part of a broader team that takes collective responsibility for making success happen.
Already a global leader in travel, we want to elevate the way we work to a whole other level. In return, you’ll get meaningful things like medical insurance, health screenings, headspace subscriptions, a home office allowance and the option to buy more holiday. You’ll have the opportunity to work from any country for 4 weeks a year, and 30 days in our other global offices. Everything, in other words, to help you relax and give your best. For more details on Engineering at Skyscanner, check our Engineering Blog and follow Skyscanner Engineering on Twitter.
