Senior Systems Engineer- Network Services

Travel. It’s one of life’s simple pleasures. But, ooof, planning it can feel like hard work. For the last 18 years we’ve been on a mission to empower every traveller with innovative tools, insights and experiences that help people get to where they’re going, so they can spend more time out exploring the world, and less time anxiously bouncing around 25 browser tabs and endless spreadsheets. Our traveller-first approach drives everything we do and it’s never been more important than it is today.

When we launched as a flight comparison site back in 2003, we changed the game by helping travellers feel smart, like they were in on a secret, that promise hasn’t changed. And today, while we’re a world leader in travel, with millions of people using our products every single day we know there’s so much more we can be doing.

Being part of Skyscanner means joining a team hell bent on building the world’s most innovative, and helpful travel experiences possible. We’re hugely ambitious and believe we have the chance to genuinely challenge and disrupt the industry.

Proactive. Passionate. Proficient.

You will be passionate about customer service, global distributed networks, cloud architectures (particularly AWS), have knowledge and exposure to firewall management (Palo Alto or similar), routing protocols (OSPF, BGP), virtualisation (Hyper-V), RADIUS/TACACS and technical troubleshooting. You will also be used to working in an Agile environment.

The role will sit within the Employee Enablement Tribe which is responsible for providing the best working environment possible for our people. The team is currently UK based but supports all of Skyscanner's people around the world. This includes the infrastructure that supports all our internal systems, including all aspects of office management and internal communications. You will be responsible for providing world class systems and support to all employees, physically and virtually. The primary role will be to offer expert support and technical direction for our distributed network systems.

You'll support and maintain all office networks and the server estate. You'll deploy and update infrastructure hosted on Amazon Web Services (AWS). You'll implement new tools, systems and services. You'll support Skyscanner’s internal userbase in the use and mastery of our toolset. You'll automate previously manual tasks. You'll collaborate with other squads in Employee Enablement, to move towards a truly digital workplace. Already a global leader in travel, we want to elevate the way we work to a whole other level.

In return, you’ll get important things like medical insurance, health screenings, headspace subscriptions, the option to buy more holiday and a support programme for you and your loved ones. We’ll also help you donate to good causes and spend time volunteering. And you’ll have the opportunity to work from your home country for 3 weeks a year, and 30 days in our other global offices. Everything, in other words, to help you relax and give your best

You’ll join a brilliantly diverse group from all corners of the world. After all, travel is about finding new perspectives and experiencing new people and cultures – and Skyscanner is strongest when our teams are both inclusive and diverse. We recognise and challenge everyday biases, remove obstacles to inclusion and ensure all our people can thrive and be themselves.
