Skyscanner is a leading global travel search site and app, a place where people are inspired to plan and book direct from millions of travel options at the best prices. We employ over 1000 staff across 11 offices globally, and, having reached market leader status, we were recently acquired by Chinese online travel company Ctrip in a deal valued at £1.4bn. While we remain operationally independent, our acquisition by Ctrip allows us to take the business to the next level of accelerated global growth. It’s a hugely exciting time for Skyscanner and the over 80m people who use us every month. We are unbiased and free, and our secret is in our unique proprietary technology that connects people directly to everything the travel industry has to offer.

Our vision is to be the most trusted and most used online travel brand in the world.

People love travel, but hate travelling. Travel is one of the great joys in life, yet online travel is fundamentally broken. We are here to fix it, with world-class software, and deep empathy for our travellers. At Skyscanner we are dedicated to solving the travel needs of our friends, family, and the world. Our traveller-first approach and award-winning apps and service have made us the #1 independent travel brand worldwide, with over 80 million monthly users across more than 50 countries.

We want to deliver the best experiences for travellers across the globe.

Our Localisation team is responsible for all translation and localisation needs at Skyscanner.  They are all localisation evangelists who thrive on the complex linguistic and localisation challenges associated with delivering products to travellers across so many countries.   They advocate for the importance of localisation and support multiple internal teams, from software engineers and product managers to copywriters and UX designers, to ensure we get it right now and into the future.  They build solid and productive relationships with external language providers who provide translation capabilities whilst the team focus on ensuring high-quality, localisation ready English content.

For this role we are looking for an experienced Localisation Manager to build the long-term localisation and internationalisation strategy, own the localisation roadmap, lead the teams and implementation of new tools and processes company-wide.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the internationalisation and localisation vision and strategy for Skyscanner: assess key priorities across various products, regions, and capabilities and drive the company’s internationalisation roadmap.
  • Establish metrics which connect localisation impact to company performance and manage these to deliver business success through strategic localisation.
  • Be the voice of Localisation across the business, work closely with senior leadership to increase the profile of localisation and achieve company-wide commitment to best practice.
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders (Product, Design, Engineering, Content, Marketing) to put localisation at the forefront of product development.
  • Provide leadership and mentorship for our team of localisation managers and project managers.

Qualifications

  • Extensive experience in Internationalisation & Localisation, combined with a solid background in leading localisation and internationalisation teams and driving strategy at scale.
  • Strong technical understanding or knowledge of internationalisation and localisation software development.
  • Experience in centralising localisation efforts and setting up localisation frameworks for various content types and product needs.
  • Direct experience in delivering products using iterative or Agile methodologies (e.g. SCRUM)
  • Experience working across multiple teams and multiple regions.
