It might be a self proclaimed title, but there’s no denying the romantic atmosphere. There’s plenty to keep you occupied in Niagara Falls even after the obligatory boat tour. There are some excellent hiking trails to be found along the Niagara River, while the vineyards in the region are well known for their ice wines. Loads of companies offer wine trail tours, and most hotels are happy to offer information about which wineries are worth visiting.

If you’re travelling with children, pay a visit to Marineland Theme Park. As well as the usual amusement park rides, the theme park also boasts wild animals like killer whales and black bears. In the evening you can enjoy dinner in the Skylon Tower, which has a revolving restaurant boasting excellent views across the falls.

There are plenty of boardwalk activities in Niagara Falls: especially in the Clifton Hill area. There’s a ferris wheel, haunted house rides, arcade games, and a buzzing nightlife. Culture vultures will enjoy a wander around the Queen Street Arts & Culture District, which is packed with art galleries, theatres, quirky cafes, and independent bistros.
