Where to Stay in Kona
Hawaii is known for its pristine beaches, lush jungles, and even some active volcanos. Kona is located on the dry side of the island. The word “Kona” means "dry" in the native tongue. It is the annual home of the Iron Man World Championships. World-famous Kona coffee is made in this region as the nearby volcanic material creates the perfect environment for growing beans. Hotels near the airport make for convenient stays.

A great town! It can be a little touristy, but it still has a small town feeling. I would highly recommend visiting!
The hot, dry, desert side of the Big Island. If you are looking for sun tanning and white sand beaches on the Big Island you have come to the right place! Our beaches on the other side are volcanic rock and sand. Apparently Hawaii is the only place in the US where coffee is grown and Kona is famous for its coffee. You won't have any trouble finding cafes to sample the island blends walking around the streets of downtown Kailua.
Not much to do in the city itself. It is quite small but the tours run from there
Quaint little town, slow paced with monthly street fairs. Every October is the World Championship Iron Man competition.
