Love the island and all it has to offer. I come here with my family every year as a great budget location. On the island there’s great places to eat as well as some beach fun with waterfront activities. Plenty of stores in the Tanger outlets, Coligny plaza, and a local secret: Harbortown to go shopping and enjoy some live entertainment. A short drive away be sure to visit the up and coming Old Bluffton (a quant town surging to notoriety for its charm) and Savannah Georgia which is only a 40 minute drive away making it the ideal spot for lovely getaway for the week with the beach the sun and sand :)
Hilton Head is a great family vacation spot or for couples. Dogs are welcome on the beach all day between Labor and Memorial Day then restricted hours Memorial to Labor Day. Lots of Nightlife for the younger crowd.

It is a resort community. It is OK, but pricey. It's just not my kind of place, all gated communities, lots of golfing, overpriced food and shopping. We were there during the Heritage Golf Tournament, not by choice, but it happened to be when my kids had Spring Break. No doubt my views are tinged by the bad weather we had while there, It was only sunny the first day and rained a lot and was cloudy and overcast the rest of the time. I did enjoy our first afternoon on the beach, but it was too cold to go back, in mid-April. I was disappointed because we came to do outdoorsy stuff and couldn't.
