One of the best places to visit in the United States. The people are very friendly. Great place to live.

Had a great visit a few years ago. We love to hike, eat and learn. This town is a great place to do all three. Hotels farther away than we would have liked.
Gettysburg is a great day trip if you live within a few hours drive. I would suggest visiting the museum first, watching the video, and viewing the cyclorama. Follow that with a drive throughout the town to view the different monuments and memorials. There are hundreds of them. The roads are well marked and there's plenty of room to pull over and take photos. I did the self-guided tour, but guided tours are also available. For anyone who has a deep desire to learn the details of the war and the layout of Gettysburg a guided tour would be worth it.
