A short drive brings you to the oldest town in the Pacific Northwest. Great restaurants, shopping, museums, site seeing, and so much more.

The beauty of the town of Astoria may have been lost on your 10-year-old self when watching the 1985 classic, The Goonies, what with all of the pirate ships and nifty inventions to pay attention to. But your adult self should pay this coastal Oregon town a visit. It’s full of fascinating history (it was one of the first major settlements west of the Rockies), miles of beautiful, sandy beaches, and tons of small town charm. Plus, many of the landmarks from the movie are still in place for film buffs to scope out -- except the pirate ship, which was destroyed after filming (or was it?).

Probably my favorite Oregon coast town. Lots to do, great terrain, seals, docks, boats! GOONIES!! We stayed here for a day and night on a road trip and had a great time.
