Nearest state Capitol to Washington, DC. Nice historic city with a pretty harbor and marina. Nice place for a day trip out of DC.

Annapolis is the capital city of Maryland and situated on the water. There are excellent examples of architecture in many forms, cozy little shops to wander through and a host of different types of restaurants to try.

Need to get out of the city for a little while, where life runs a little slower and more peaceful, visit Annapolis, MD. Just forty minutes outside of DC, Annapolis is a charming town on the mouth of the Chesapeake Bay. Here they have little beaches you can sneak off too, or visit the old town of Annapolis and see where the original capitol of the United States was. Not until 1790 did Washington DC become the US capitol. Annapolis is a great place to do some crabbing, fishing and enjoy the beautiful weather. Even taking a stroll around the town center is relaxing as you see can see what this town looked like a couple hundred years ago, and little time has changed it even today.

The Naval Academy is the big draw to Annapolis, but there is so much more to do here in the summer! Very fun waterfront area with cute shops and restaurants.
