Spent a week in Fort William in October. Loved every day. So many things to do! I would recommend the Crannog Cruise, on a clear day you will get a lovely view of Ben Nevis. I would also highly recommend a visit to the Nevis Mountain Range Center. They have a mountain gondola that will take you from the car park to the slope of Aonach Mor. At the top there is a nice wee restaurant, gift shop, walking paths and a large balcony with a great view of the Nevis mountain range.
This is a beautiful place with lots to do great caravan sites and very friendly people been loads of times.
Nice city to stay if you want to clim Ben Nevis or take the West Highland Way (steam train) to Glenfinnan or Mallaig. Really friendly and good people, good food...
Fort William, set on the shores of Loch Linnhe, is a lovely place. The town itself has many little shops and places of interest. Plenty of places to sit down and have a drink and something to eat. Very pleasant place to have a walk around. As far as I am aware, the only parking is on the shoreside, just on the edge of town. Boat rides/cruises on the river can be taken from here.
