The last 25km of unpaved road are accessible only in 4*4 and are not for who suffer motion sickness. But once you get to the top and you enter the magic Kingdom of Lesotho from its most remote and unaccessible area, you are immediately rewarded, stepping in time
Driving through Sani Pass is one of the best things to do while travelling from South Africa to Lesotho. The road zig zags from the Drakensberg Mountains down into the Kwa-Zulu Natal province. However, it shouldn't be tempted with just any car. You need a 4x4 to ensure your car doesn't join the specs of crashes that are seen in the distance. Once you've made it up, don't miss out on having a drink at the highest pub in Southern Africa! Or if you are coming back to South Africa you'll be close to the Golden Gate National Park which is well worth a visit as well.
Cool little restaurant, and basic backpackers with a million dollar view.
