I recommend this to anyone who loves the beach and is looking for some down time on their NZ vacation. Raglan has the right level of day-time buzz that starts to slow down when the evening sets in. Town activities revolve mostly around sea sports like kite boarding, Stand Up Paddle, Kayaking, Surfing... It's not hard to get to but you'll definitely need a car or some sort of personal transportation. Raglan has few interesting stays and eateries serving up simple, comfort eats. I recommend staying at Raglan Farm Stay, Chris is a really chill dude and it's nice hanging out on his deck with a book and wine in hand. Spend 2-3 days at Raglan and head off to your next town!
Raglan is a charming little town on the sea. The tiny streets bustle with bohemian surf culture and a chilled out vibe. If your a surfer don't forget your board - the break here has been called the best lefthander in the world!
I'm not a surfer but Raglan just charmed me. Between gorgeous beaches, great sunsets, and a cute little downtown, I loved it.
One of the best surf spots in New Zealand. Went there during my Christmas break & had the best surf of my life. If you're visit NZ & want to check out where kiwi's spend there holiday's check out Raglan.
